In 1954, Leslie Boney Jr. guided basement restorations in the Burgwin-Wright House (present day Florence Kidder Room and visitor’s center). Leslie Boney Jr. was an architect with his father and two brothers at Boney Architects. Boney was an admirable writer and civic leader, and handled the marketing and business development portion of their firm. He graduated from North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering with his Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering. Boney dedicated his architecture skills to strengthening education institutions and historical preservation.
