In a Wilmington Morning Star newspaper clipping dated March 2, 1999, a group of descendants of signers of the Declaration of Independence held a meeting in Wilmington. They chose to come to Wilmington because of the connection it had with the Revolutionary War period. The meeting began with a talk by UNCW Chancellor James Leutze, a military historian in his own right. After the meeting they toured the Burgwin-Wright House.
