Two of Wilmington’s finest historic museums, the Burgwin-Wright House and the Bellamy Mansion, will take visitors on a jolly journey to earlier times with “A Christmas Stroll Through the Past.” The Burgwin-Wright House will provide a colonial era experience while the Bellamy Mansion will present an antebellum version of the holiday from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10.

Each house will be festively decorated. Luminaries will light the path along Market Street between the locations. En route, guests can stop to enjoy the Christmas classics sung by carolers on the steps of St. James Episcopal Church. Costumed interpreters stationed throughout both houses will guide visitors and answer questions. The Bellamy Mansion will also provide story-tellers every half-hour.

Activities for children will include a petting zoo at the Burgwin-Wright House. In addition, the Burgwin-Wright House will offer crafts, such as decorating ornaments. Father Christmas will be available for photographs at the Bellamy Mansion.

Admission is $20 for adults, $10 for youth ages 3-18 with no cost for children under the age of 3. Tickets can be purchased at the Bellamy Mansion or the Burgwin-Wright House.

Built in 1770, the Burgwin-Wright House is one of four remaining colonial structures in Wilmington. Purchased by the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of North Carolina in 1937, the house was restored over a period of several decades and opened to the public in 1951. The historic home now hosts a variety of events throughout the year, such as art shows, pop-up exhibits, and book signings. Guided tours are available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
