On March 4, 1955, the Society went to the Secretary of State to change the name of the Society to The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of North Carolina, Inc. Formally the name was The North Carolina Society of Colonial Dames of America. The Certificate of Amendment for the change was approved on March 7, 1955.
