Artist Anne VanBlarcom K. Shows at Burgwin-Wright

The Burgwin-Wright House and Gardens welcome Anne Van Blarcom Kurowski with an opening reception from 6-9 p.m. April 26 for her show “Faces and Spaces.” Her work will remain on display through May 18.

VanBlarcom K. finds inspiration for her art through the people she encounters. She is attracted to the incongruities and contradictions that make up each person’s individual presence. She finds that “Shapes and colors have as much to do with attraction as their personality,” and believes that art can touch the soul in unique ways and that the viewer will connect their feelings and perceptions to the subjects in her works.

Although VanBlarcom K. has worked with other mediums in the past, she has grown to prefer pastels and almost exclusively works with them. According to her, “I love to see the quality and energy of pastel co-exist with the realistic image, so loose abstract areas are often contrasted with areas of crisp realism.”

VanBlarcom K. gained a BA and Masters’ Degree in Fine Arts at Montclair State College. Over the past 40 years, her work has been exhibited in some of the most prestigious exhibitions in America, where it was awarded numerous special honors.
