Artist Lew Lobosco Shows at Burgwin-Wright

The Burgwin-Wright House and Gardens welcomes Lew Lobosco with an opening reception for his first gallery exhibit “Painting in Photoshop” to be held 6-9 p.m. Friday, March 22. The show will remain on exhibit through April 20.

Lobosco embraces technology through abstract realism referred to as Digitalism. He had an ad agency in NJ specializing in large format graphics for over 35 years and always looked forward to turning his attention from commercial art to fine art. He is now semi-retired, with time to pursue this dream. During those years immersed in computer graphics, his brush has become a conventional mouse. Photoshop and digital printing have become his instrument and the media.

Lobosco’s artistic goal is to hit a chord that feels like, “yes, this is the time we live in ...when the smartphone is always sharing our space and the internet and its messages are flying through every moment, competing for our attention.” He believes that the boundless presence of the information age is so significant that he incorporates that presence into his art like digital graffiti.

Lobosco’s intention is “to merge everyday technological communication into everyday natural scenes, to evoke a feeling of multitasking that is now everyday life.”

Built in 1770, the Burgwin-Wright House and Gardens is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Guided tours are offered on the hour from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Visit www.burgwinwrighthouse.com for more information about Fourth Friday, tours and other special events.
