Lecture: NC's Crucial Role in the American Revolution"

     The JLMH is proud to present a lecture on “The Crucial Role of NC During the American Revolution” by Suzanne Adair on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at 2 pm at the Visitors Center of the Joel Lane Museum House at 160 South Saint Mary’s Street, Raleigh, NC 27603. Admission is $16 for the general public and $11 for members of the Joel Lane Historical Society. Refreshments will be served. Seating is limited, and advanced payment is required.      Historians often miss the importance of the Old North State in the American War of Independence. Until Lord Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown, however, 1781 had looked like a frustrating, stalemate year for the patriot cause—largely due to the Continental Army’s huge thorn-in-the-side lodged in coastal North Carolina. Suzanne Adair, author of a crime fiction series set during the southern theater of the war, will discuss the British Army’s audacious, confident gambit for North Carolina that tied the hands of Continental commanders during most of 1781, nearly costing patriots their victory.
     Award-winning novelist Suzanne Adair is a Florida native who lives in Raleigh. Her suspense and thrillers transport readers to the Southern theater of the Revolutionary War, where she brings historic towns, battles, and people to life. She fuels her creativity with Revolutionary War reenacting and visits to historic sites. When she's not writing, she enjoys cooking, dancing, hiking, and spending time with her family.
