The National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution -- Stamp Defiance Chapter NSDAR held a bell ringing ceremony to celebrate the signing of the U.S. Constitution. The program took place  at 4 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Burgwin-Wright Museum and Gardens, headquarters of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of North Carolina (NSCDA-NC). The program marked the beginning of Constitution Week, which was officially declared by President Eisenhower on Aug. 2, 1956. DAR chapters nationwide participated in the ringing of bells at this exact time.
